UNESCAP To Launch Regional MDG Report
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) will launch the Millennium Development Goals: Progress in Asia and the Pacific 2007 report in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The launch will take place simultaneously in Manila and Bangkok on Monday, 8 October.
Millennium Development Goals Regional Progress Report to Be Launched at Poverty Forum in Manila
The annual update on the progress of Millennium Development Goals (MDG) in the Asia and Pacific region will be unveiled on 8 October. The report "The Millennium Development Goals: Progress in Asia and the Pacific 2007," produced through a regional partnership between the Asian Development Bank, United Nations Development Programme and the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific will be released on 8 October. It will reveal whether the Asia-Pacific region, which has emerged as one of the most dynamic regions in the world, is on track to meet the MDGs.
Stand Up and Speak Out
On October 16th and 17th , millions all over the world will once again Stand Up and Speak Out against poverty and inequality and in support of the Millennium Development Goals. The Stand Up Speak Out initiative is planned to coincide with the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. On this day last year, 23.5 million people stood up against poverty in a 24 hour period setting a new Guinness World Record.Asia Pacific Conclave on Reproductive and Sexual Health
Exploring New Frontiers in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights is the theme of the 4th Asia Pacific Conference on Reproductive and Sexual Health and Rights (APCRSH) being held in Hyderabad, India, from October 29-31, 2007.
This conference will bring together more than 1200 participants including NGOs, government officials, donors, UN representatives, media persons and parliamentarians to discuss issues related to sexual & reproductive health and rights.
The conference aims to develop new strategies for future research and programming on the subject. It will also enhance understanding of the importance of rights-based programmes on such sensitive issues in the Asia Pacific region.

National Essay Competition for Students on the Millennium Development Goals
United Nations in Uzbekistan is pleased to announce the launch of the 2007-Second Annual Essay Competition for students on the Millennium Development Goals in Uzbekistan. The National Essay Competition is organized by the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Uzbekistan in partnership with UNDP, UNIC, UNICEF, UNODC, UNV and UNAIDS.
