ASEAN Economic Integration Forum 2017

50 years and beyond: Forging an inclusive ASEAN

14 – 15 September 2017
UN Conference Centre, Bangkok, Thailand

This year’s ASEAN Economic Integration Forum 2017 (AEIF 2017) will be held in Bangkok from 14 to 15 September. AEIF 2017 will focus on a key challenge in the development of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), namely how the AEC can promote and achieve equitable, inclusive and sustainable growth so that ASEAN continues to thrive for the next 50 years.

Global and regional leaders as well as experts will tackle this challenge at the forum by looking at areas such as empowering women, enabling youth, positioning business and connecting ASEAN partners through various initiatives.

The forum will culminate with the launch of the ASEAN Economic Integration Platform, which aims to provide relevant research towards proposing effective policies and promoting dynamic business.

AEIF 2017 is jointly organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS), the World Bank Group, St. Antony’s College Oxford University and the World Trade Institute, University of Bern, Switzerland. The forum is the third in the series of AEIF, the first being held in Oxford on 10 November 2015, and the second in Kuala Lumpur last year.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is 50 years old this year. Since its creation, the region has transformed into the world’s seventh-largest market, third-largest labour force and is projected to become the fourth-largest economic bloc by 2030.
